2017 Taipei Universiade
29th Summer Universiade
The Universiade is the highest level of global university sports competition. In terms of competition types, participating countries, and number of participants, it is the second highest level of international event after the Olympics.
Hosting the Universiade will benefit Taiwan both domestically and internationally. Domestically, in addition to enhancing the national sporting spirit, it will provide an opportunity to build international-standard venues and facilities. Internationally, the Universiade will help Taipei become a world-class city and increase Taiwan's international visibility and participation in international affairs.
The Universiade represents more than just an international sporting event; it also encompasses multiple missions, including urban regeneration of the host city, public participation, and cultural enhancement. In 2017, the international community will focus on Taipei, hoping that people across the country will participate in this grand event and work together to propel Taipei onto the world stage, making it a source of pride for Taiwan.
