The Importance of Product Design Capabilities
Product design capability is a crucial factor in determining a company's success. Exceptional design capabilities not only improve product appearance and quality internally, but also help reduce production costs. To better showcase our design capabilities, here is one specific design example.
Design Example: CJ-D051A Leather Phone Holder
We hope to launch a phone stand that combines the textures of leather and metal.
After considering various possible designs and conducting preliminary testing and screening, we decided to try a two-piece design and self-assembly. To reduce costs, we designed the two parts to look identical.
(Figure 1) Various interlocking structures were tested in practice to assess their feasibility.
(Figure 2) A snap-fit design was determined that balances strength and a simple appearance while being easy to operate.
(Figure 3) The two metal pieces are cleverly connected by the soft and deformable properties of leather. When in use, they can be easily inserted into the latch by slightly offsetting them. The four-prong buckle provides a fixing function and serves as the front cover to hold the phone, making full use of every structure.
However, in the rough model, it was found that the curves at the turning points caused the cut edges of the leather to float up, resulting in an uneven and unsightly appearance.
(Figure 4) Therefore, special adjustments were made to the turning points, and finally a detailed design was found that allows the leather to fit naturally.
