Custom Medals|A Signature Award for Every Event

A great medal should read clearly on the podium, feel substantial in the hand, and last for years as a keepsake. Chung Jen International helps race organizers, schools, companies, and organizations turn event identities, logos, and milestones into fully custom medals. From finish recommendations and sample approval to bulk shipment, you work with a single point of contact throughout.

Our medals are primarily made of zinc alloy; if you need a different material, please contact our sales team. Most medals shown on our website are past client orders and can serve as references for shape, finish, and plating color.

Choose a Finish That Fits Your Design

  • 3D relief (no color fill): Raised and recessed layers, paired with sandblasted textures and polished surfaces, bring out the detail—ideal when metal texture is the focus.
  • Latent image design: The same face reveals different images at different viewing angles, adding a visual twist.
  • Baked paint fill: Recessed areas are filled with paint matched to your specified color codes. The finished surface is flat, with crisp colors that resist scratching.
  • Colored epoxy: Artwork and text are filled with colored epoxy to add color.
  • Cut-out shapes: Curved or graphic cut-outs in the medal body add depth to the overall shape.

Plating and color filling are two separate processes: plating is completed first, and color is then applied according to the design. We will recommend the right combination of finishes based on your artwork.

Plating Colors: Distinguish Rankings, Set the Tone

Common plating colors include gold, silver, nickel, red copper, and bronze, along with antique finishes such as antique bronze, antique copper, antique silver, and antique zinc. The same design can be plated in different colors to distinguish rankings or divisions, and a single medal can also feature two-tone plating so the main body and artwork stand apart.

Structural Designs That Invite Interaction

  • Sliding structure: A two-piece design in which an element slides and rotates along a track.
  • Magnetic puzzle structure: Detachable pieces join by magnet into one complete medal—well suited to multi-stage events where participants collect the full set.
  • Double-sided design: Both sides can carry artwork, and the back can reserve space for the event name, logo, or commemorative text.

Ribbons, Accessories, and Packaging

Medals can be paired with ribbons, which can be custom printed or made in specified colors—please contact our sales team for details. Flat hooks, jump rings, and other connectors can be added as the design requires. Standard packaging is an OPP bag, and gift boxes or display cases are available for award ceremonies or gifting.

From Concept to Podium

  1. Share your requirements: Event date, estimated quantity, and design concept. A logo, sketch, or written description all work; if you need our designers to create the artwork, a separate design fee applies.
  2. Finish assessment and quotation: We recommend finishes, size, and plating color, and explain the mold cost.
  3. Sample approval: Confirm the shape, colors, and details of the sample.
  4. Production and quality inspection: Bulk production and inspection follow the approved sample standard.
  5. Packaging and shipping: Transport is arranged around your event date.

Throughout the project, we plan the schedule backward from your event date and proactively remind you of each point that needs your approval.

Custom Medals FAQ

What shapes and sizes can custom medals be made in?

Custom medals are mainly fully custom (OEM): the shape is produced from a new mold based on your design, so round, irregular, or outline-following shapes are all possible. The main material is zinc alloy; for other materials, please contact our sales team. Among our past client orders, diameters typically range from 47 to 75 mm, with thicknesses of about 2.5 to 10 mm. Size and thickness affect weight, feel, and price, so we recommend specifications based on your design and budget.

What are the common medal finishes, and how do they differ?

Common finishes include 3D relief (no color fill), latent image design, baked paint fill, colored epoxy, and cut-out shapes. 3D relief uses layered heights to bring out metal texture; latent image design shows different images at different viewing angles; baked paint fill gives flat, scratch-resistant color; colored epoxy adds color; and cut-outs add depth to the shape. The right choice depends on the focus of your artwork, and we include recommendations with your quotation.

What plating colors are available? Can colors distinguish rankings?

Common plating colors include gold, silver, nickel, red copper, and bronze, along with antique finishes such as antique bronze, antique copper, antique silver, and antique zinc. The same design can be plated in gold, silver, bronze, or other colors to distinguish rankings or divisions; please confirm the quantity split per color with our sales team. Two-tone plating on a single medal is also possible to sharpen the contrast between the main body and the artwork.

Can both the front and back of a medal be customized?

Yes. Both sides can carry artwork, and the back often reserves space for the event name, organizer logo, year, or commemorative text. These elements are built into the mold, so we recommend finalizing the content of both sides at the artwork stage.

Can you make interactive medals or medals with special structures?

Yes. Examples include a two-piece sliding medal, where an element slides and rotates along a track, and a magnetic puzzle medal, where several pieces join by magnet into one complete medal—well suited to multi-stage events where participants collect the full set. Special structures require us to assess part fit and assembly, so share your idea and we will confirm feasibility first.

Can medals come with ribbons and packaging?

Yes.

Can each medal carry a different name, ranking, or number?

Yes. If you need individual names, rankings, or serial numbers for recipients, each medal can be processed individually after production, and the suitable method is assessed based on the medal design and the space reserved for it. Individual processing is charged separately; please contact our sales team for a detailed quotation.

Is there a mold fee for custom medals?

Yes. Custom medals are mainly fully custom (OEM), with a new mold made from your design, so shape, finish, and plating color can all be planned around your event. The mold fee depends on size and design complexity and is explained in your quotation.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom medals?

We recommend 500 pcs or more to spread the mold and development costs effectively. The actual quantity can be discussed with our sales team based on style, finish, and requirements; if you would like a sample first to confirm the result, just let us know.

Our event date is set. How far in advance should we order?

We recommend planning backward from your event date. Custom medals start with a mold, and mold time depends on design complexity. Sampling takes about 10–15 days after the mold is completed, and bulk production takes about 15–40 days after sample approval. Add shipping time to get your delivery date. Our sales team confirms the actual schedule for each project, and we recommend leaving a buffer for artwork revisions and sample adjustments.

We only have an event logo or a sketch. Can you still make the medals?

Yes. A logo, hand-drawn sketch, AI-generated concept image, or written description all work, and we will first assess production feasibility and budget. If you need our designers to prepare production-ready artwork, a separate design fee applies.
